National Information System for Assistive Technology

The National Information System for Assistive Technology (NISAT) has been established by the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) to provide timely and accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of data relating to the activities of the 56 State Assistive Technology Programs, funded under the Assistive Technology Act of 1998, as amended and located throughout the United States and Territories; and the 33 Title III Alternative Financing Programs.

State Assistive Technology Program

State AT Programs implement required activities focused on improving the provision of assistive technology to individuals with disabilities of all ages, through comprehensive, statewide programs that are consumer responsive. AT Programs make AT devices and services more available and accessible to individuals with disabilities and their families through state-level activities and state leadership activities. Read more

Title III Alternative Financing Program

Title III Alternative Financing Programs (AFP) offer mechanisms to help individuals with disabilities and their families fund the purchase of AT devices or services. Programs offer alternative financing mechanisms such as low-interest loan funds, interest rate buy-down programs, revolving loan funds, loan guarantees or other mechanisms for the purchase or lease of AT. Access to Telework Program

Access to Telework Programs establish and maintain permanent programs to increase access to telework for individuals with disabilities. The goals of Telework are to increase access to technology for disabled individuals; and to increase employment opportunities and competitive employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities. The National Information System for Assistive Technology (NISAT) is a cooperative agreement between the U.S. Department of Education and the National Association of Assistive Technology Act Programs (ATAP). The grant (Grant #H224B060002; CFDA 84.224B) is funded under the Assistive Technology Act of 1998, as amended and administered by the Rehabilitation Services Administration, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services at the U.S. Department of Education.
